My Vivariums

NARNIA

This is Narnia! This was a China cabinet that had been sitting around, so we converted it to three separate enclosures for arboreal, tropical species. Every surface has been sealed with plant and animal safe materials so that the wood won’t warp or rot.
The whole unit is self contained with its own power strip/surge protector buildt right in. It's fitted with lights appropriate for each species and an automated misting system to ensure the right humidity. Each light is timed on a smart plug, and the heating elements are controlled by thermostats to ensure correct temperatures and safety. All of the humidity and temperature gauges are Bluetooth-enabled. I control this thing from my iPhone!
It’s also bioactive! This means that the plants are live, and that
there are organisms that clean up after any animal that may live there to minimize regular cleanup by humans.
The best part? It mimics each animal’s natural environment so they feel right at home, and we can observe their natural behaviors and temperaments. Not to mention, it looks great!

MOJAVE - Turnip

Picture
This is for Turnip, a juvenile uromastyx, and totally bioactive with isopods and plants. Super easy to maintain and he loves it!

AMAZONIA

Picture
These vivariums house various animals that originate from the rainforests of South America.  Species include dendrobates tinctorius dart frogs, phyllobates vittitus dart frogs, mourning geckos, pacman frogs, spiders, and millipedes.  The housing for each animal is anything from a mason jar to terrariums made for herpetological husbandry.
